Luca Ray, Author
My Story, My Voice
I am Luca Ray, an author who writes not out of comfort, but out of lived experience, someone who knows first-hand what it means to rebuild after everything changes. My work, born from the pain and beauty of recovery, stands as an authentic testament to resilience and the enduring human spirit.
Biography of a disability author
My name is Luca Ray author, and my story begins on an ordinary day that spun my world out of control. A devastating traffic accident in Ukraine left me paralysed and facing a bleak future, my life forever split into "before" and "after". For almost two years, movement was a distant memory. I had to relearn everything, from sitting upright, to standing, and eventually taking those first uncertain steps. With a titanium plate in my spine, every part of my recovery was hard-won and deeply personal.
Now, I live in the UK, specifically Glasgow, a Ukrainian refugee with a story I never thought I would have to tell. Writing is my way of processing the trauma and hope interwoven through my recovery. As a spinal injury survivor story, my journey is more than a tale of paralysis: it's a testament to what is possible when the body breaks but the will remains unbroken.
My books and writing focus on these core themes: resilience, the force of human will, and the unexpected beauty that arises from hardship. I want my readers to find faith in small victories, whether they're searching for the voice of a recovery advocate, hoping for a connection to an experienced survivor, or needing proof that life after a devastating accident can be meaningful. In every page I write, I strive to offer an honest, healing voice to others on their own recovery journeys as a self help author and resilience speaker.
